An ever popular fast growing annual, this nitrogen fixing legume is grown for its vast numbers of colourful highly scented flowers, which are often used in cut flower arrangements. Usually a climber which requires support for its tendrils to grip, it is a sunshine and water lover. First bred by Henry Eckford in the 1880s, who was awarded a first class certificate by the RHS .
