Salvia Nemorosa Violet Queen, also called Woodland Sage, is recommended by the seed supplier as one of the finest perennial salvias available.
A clump forming plant, it produces masses of violet blue flowers. A well drained sunny spot is preferred, south or west facing in the front or middle of the border for best displays.
This low maintenance flower can be divided after five or more years. Otherwise a light feed in spring and mulch in autumn are all that is required.
With blue grey leaves and stems they also make nice cut flowers, having a unique but delightful aroma. Horticulture UK suggest planting around a kitchen garden where it will attract pollinators and is great for bees.
